You Never Have to Worry Again!

Do you have sleepless nights over worrisome situations in your life? God’s Word tells us not to be anxious or to worry about ANYTHING. Easier said, then done! It seems so natural to obediently talk about trusting in the Lord and waiting patiently on Him, until something occurs that disrupts our lives right where we live. How can we find peace when matters seem so big that they feel hopeless, or so recurring that they will never get better? How is it possible to rest in the Lord in those times?

Trust in the Lord and do good…Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him…Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him. ~ Psalm 37:3-7

God’s command to trust in Him is meant for us in times of peace as well as in times of difficulty and problems. Resting in the Lord does not depend on external circumstances at all, but on our relationship to God Himself. Our worry is caused because we have a wrong view of God. We don’t trust how much God loves us, and that He always has our best in mind. There is never a circumstance that is unknown to God or too big for Him. Often, God allows certain conditions to arise because He is preparing to do a good work in or through us that we cannot see or even imagine. In the timeless words of Oswald Chambers, when we don’t peacefully rest in God’s love but instead become anxious, we are sinning:

Fussing always ends in sin. We imagine that a little anxiety and worry are an indication of how really wise we are: it is much more an indication of how really wicked we are. Fretting springs from a determination to get our own way…Fretting is wicked if you are a child of God. ~ Oswald Chambers

So how do we keep ourselves from being anxious?

The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lordhe is their stronghold in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him. ~ Psalm 37:39-40

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. ~ Philippians 4:6

Be so deeply immersed in God’s Word and in prayer, that His peace and love are with you in all circumstances. Thank Him in advance for His blessings and provision. Then this is His promise to you:

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:7
